This is a junior golf team program.  Basically for newly developed and younger girl and boy golfers, it is designed to provide a venue that permits these golfers to play competitively in a user-friendly environment.  It is for ages 6 to 13.  There will be a short training session in how to play in the league; it must be noted that these early training sessions are not golf lessons per se – the junior will need to obtain instruction outside of the league if they wish to play successfully. If you would like information on where they can obtain outside instruction, please email to jterry@brec .org.  We highly recommend The First Tee as a place to obtain instruction, if you sign up early in the Spring.

The format is 8 players per team.  They will be divided up into two-somes, each matching playing a scramble format in a 6 hole match against another two-some from another team.  There will be four matches overall. More details and registration forms will be coming to this site.

Schedule:  Developmental League Camp for 6 to 9 year olds (May 9th: 4:30-7:30PM; May 15th & 16th: 4:30-7:30PM).  Developmental League Camp for 10 to 13 year olds (May 11th: 4:30-7:30PM; May 18th & 19th: 4:30-7:30PM).

Family Golf

BREC is installing Family Golf Tees at several of our courses; these tees are blue and gold disc set at a given distance for juniors and family members to tee off from.  Each Golf Course will have a scorecard and the means to locate the tee markers.  These tees are a permanent feature at the courses and designed to provide the family that visit our facilities a setting that permits them to mainstream into regular play.

Why is this different? Though golf is an individual sport, the concept of Family Golf offers the opportunity for family members to participate in an enjoyable outdoor experience together within a format that is set up to provide a measure of success.

We will host several Orientations in February that will outline this program, as well as many other developmental programs, but primarily to discuss at length what we have laid out below.

Schedule and outline of program that day: Family Golf 2017 Spring Schedule

Revised March 28th.

Will begin at 5:30pm.

April 20th at Webb and 21st at City Park: This is for ages 13 to 17.  These two days are set up for teens and family members to visit the course and also receive some basic golfing tips and then playing 9 holes utilizing the Family Golf Tees. And similar to the adult family programs, we hope to develop interest in creating regular leagues for this segment as well. Will begin at 5:30pm.

April 24th at City Park and 25th at Webb: This is for families with juniors between the ages of 6 to 9.  The forward tees will greatly benefit the younger golfers, and any family member fairly new to the game.  A short game clinic will be performed and families will be sent to the course to play 6 holes in a fun format.  This group is starting with the youngest set of juniors, but will find these courses and the program set up to make their initial steps into golf fun and beneficial.  Will begin at 5:30pm.
