BREC is bringing the PGA Jr. League to East Baton Rouge this Spring!
PGA Jr. League is shifting the way youth golf is learned and played, including the adoption of league play, team golf and scoring with flags and points. All of these unique elements are further explained here. More detailed information can be found in the 2022 Conditions of Play booklet here.
Coaching: Behind each and every PGA Jr. League team is a PGA Coach providing a safe, caring and organized environment for every child to become (and stay) a golfer. These experts in the game are provided with flexibility to create a coaching program that works best for their players and families.
Teams: Teams are part of leagues, organized together so that games can be played and local league standings can be kept.
Some leagues may be held entirely at one facility under a PGA Coach. These in-house leagues include multiple teams that practice and play at the same facility each week, though some in-house leagues may travel to other facilities for friendly matches or Play Days.
Other leagues may be formed across multiple facilities, where teams take turns visiting each other’s golf courses and playing against one another.
Program Details:
Registration: March 1-31 (Online here or in-person March 11, 9-11 a.m. or March 24, 12:30-close at Santa Maria Golf Course
Ages: Boys and Girls / 8-11
Cost: $225
Practice Sessions + Team Selections
April 1 / 8 a.m.-Noon at Santa Maria Golf Course
Players will hit shots and be evaluated to help in positioning players on teams; players can request to be on given teams
April 15 / 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at Santa Maria Golf Course
One-hour time slot alotted for each team
April 21 or 22 at Santa Maria Golf Course
1 1/2 hour time slot alloted for each team. Players may choose the evening of April 21 or morning of April 22.
April 28 or 29 at Webb Memorial Golf Course
1 1/2 hour time slot alloted for each team. Players may choose the evening of April 21 or morning of April 22.
Note: On these practice dates, players are encouraged to do additional practice on their own either just before the practices or afterwards. If any additional instructions is required, get with PGA Professional Jack Terry and see what additional help can be achieved.
