Congratulations to Randy Goff on winning the 2025 City Park Course Championship. Overnight and morning rain forced the cancellation of Sunday’s second round due to unplayable course conditions. Randy Goff captures the 2025 Championship based on his strong Saturday play in cool and drizzly conditions. The weather intervened and didn’t allow anyone a chance to catch him on Sunday.
Jeremy Gautreaux and Kevin Grace tied for 2nd two shots
back at 65. Craig Rose took 4th place, and Connor Lynch came in 5th after
winning tiebreakers with Landon Covington, Tre Simmons, and Clint Skinner who
shot 67.
Frank Schroeder won the tiebreakers with Chris Kieren and
Chris Leonard to win the First Flight.

Congratulations to Craig Rose & Brandt Garon on winning
the Icebreaker Tournament today at City Park GC. This tournament is nine holes
of Scramble format followed by nine holes of Better-Ball format. Craig &
Brandt shot six under par 26 in the scramble and five under par 27 in the
better-ball for a total of eleven under par 53 and a four stroke victory.
John Henchy & Randy Goff finished in second place at
seven under par 57. They finished one stroke ahead of five teams that tied for
third place at six under par 58.
Teddy Ledet & David Knight won the First Flight at four under par 60, one stroke ahead of Danny Simoneaux & Randall Little who finished at three under par 61.

Collins, & Phil Frazier on winning the BREC Holiday Scramble today at J.S.
Clark golf course. They shot a 13-under par 59 and won the tiebreakers in a
four-way scorecard playoff with the teams of Robbie White, Grant Welch, &
Eric Hoffman; Terry Ledet, David Millet, & Joey Indest; and Connor Lynch,
Wes Watts, & Richard Hagan. All four teams tied at 59 and it took four
tiebreakers before the winner was decided by an eagle on hole 18.
In the First Flight Daniel Chambless, Brian Barger, &
Chris Kieren shot 7-under par 65 and won a tiebreaker with the team of Daniel
Richard, Bryan Fontenot, & Hunter Spedale.
All teams battled cool temperatures and light rain to post some remarkable scores for the tough weather conditions.
Congratulations to the team of Phil Schmitt & Scott Sterling on winning the 2024 Harry Neese Tournament today at City Park golf course. This unique two-player tournament is competed over 27-holes playing nine holes of Scramble, nine holes of Better-Ball, and nine holes of alternate shot. After 27 holes Phil & Scott were tied at 10-under par with Landon Covington & Dennis Brown. The tie was played off with Schmitt & Sterling winning on the 2nd playoff hole.
Jeremy Gautreaux and John Henchy came in third at 8-under par 88. The teams of Brek Balentine & Scott Wilfong, Robbie White & Dante Caldera, and Craig Rose & Brandt Garon all tied for fourth place at 7-under par 89. Blake Watts & Ken Collins won the Frist Flight finishing at 2-under par 94.
Congratulations to Chad Braud on winning the 2024 Senior Baton Rouge Open today at Santa Maria. Chad now has a Senior Open victory to add to his 2011 Baton Rouge Open win. Chad followed his Saturday 70 with a Sunday 4-under par 68 to win at 6-under par 138. Danny Nelson shot a Sunday 4-under par 68 to finish second at 2-under par 142. Jory Comeaux also shot 4-under par 68 on Sunday to finish in a three-way tie for third place with Wess Watts and Wendell Akins at even par 144.
In the Super Senior Division Randy Goff shot his second straight 6-under par 66 to win with a twelve under par 132 total. Paul Castro, the 2023 Super Senior Division champion, posted a Sunday 5-under par 67 to finish second at 7-under par 137. Steve Thompson finished in third at 6-under par 138. Lindsey Spiller came in fourth at 3-under par 141.
Congratulations to Carter Schmitt on winning the 2024 Baton Rouge Open today at Beaver Creek golf course. He followed Saturday’s 5-under par 67 with a 6-under par 66 to win at 11-under par 133. Carter rode a back nine hot streak making birdie on six of the last seven holes to complete a two-shot victory. After making bogey on the 11th hole, Carter birdied holes 12 and 13, parred hole 14, and finished making birdie on holes 15, 16, 17, and 18.Grant Welch came in second posting 68-67-135 finishing at 9-under par. Jeremy Gautreaux shot 70-67 to finish third at 7-under par 137. Greg Berthelot and Kyle Bennett matched Carter Schmitt’s 6-under par on Sunday. Greg Berthelot finished 4th at 6-under par 138, Kyle finished 8th at 2-under par 142.The top twelve players will be contacted about playing in the 2024 Baton Rouge Amateur match play tournament.
On October 7, boys and girls ages 7 to 17 participated in the 2023 Baton Rouge Junior Championship at BREC’s Beaver Creek Golf Course.
Ethan Marx, a former resident of Zachary now living in Mandeville returned to take the title of Baton Rouge Junior Champion for 2023. Hosted at Beaver Creek in Zachary, Marx jumped out to an early front 9 lead with a 3 under 33, and didn’t relent with a one under back nine 35 to shoot a 68. 2021 Champion Elliott Aucoin tried to make a back nine charge with a two under 34, but couldn’t overcome a front nine 37, managing a second place finish for the second year in a row. Mason Comeaux of Brusley High School finished third with a 75.

On the girl’s side, Evelynn Artieta of Walker shot identical one under 35s on both nines to take the girl’s title. Peyton Flynn, the 2021 champion finished second with a 75. Nikki Chase took third place with an 85.

In the boy 12 -14 year olds, Owen LeJeune shot a 77 to take that title, followed by Janie Giardina winning the girl’s side.
In the boys 10-11, Sam Shield defended his title with a nine hole 41, and Carlie Tiche taking the girl’s title with a 40. In the 7-9 boys Carter Fortier won with a 49, and Abigail Cheramie with a 43 for the girls.
Schmitt and Thibeaux take Plainsman’s 4-Ball by 5 strokes
Shooting a final round 59, Schmitt & Thibeaux eclipsed the field and took a 5 stroke advantage to the house to take the honors of being the 2017 champions. This is their second title in the Plainsman.Read More
