Exciting news, BREC Golf is in the Player Development business once again. Scheduled for 2015’s late winter to early Summer programming, golfers can expect to find a new program for those who might be classified as beginners, newcomers, or not-quite-ready-for-prime-time golf. It is a program that provides a quick study into the basics (First Swing), and will include for those who attend the clinics a lead into how to transition on to the golf course (First Play), with occasional appearances at various courses to teach new golfers how to properly practice (First Swing or First Play Practice Sessions), and then an effort to organize newcomers into a developmental league that allows them to play and enjoy opportunities on the course in a non-intimidating fashion.

We’ve been getting questions lately about the pink flags at Dumas GC and Beaver Creek GC.
BREC has made the decision to increase the size of existing native areas at Beaver Creek and create some new ones at Dumas.
Kelly Wall, Assistant Director of Golf at BREC had the following comments last week:
“We’re expanding existing native areas and creating new ones at a couple of our courses. It’s been an increasing trend in this industry over the past ten to fifteen years. Native areas, when properly utilized, allow us to focus more of our resources on fairways, bunkers and greens. Almost all of the areas that we’ve naturalized come into play only very rarely. We’ve been very selective about where we’re doing this and I don’t think it will interfere with people’s enjoyment of the game or affect the pace of play at all. Hopefully our customers will begin to see better conditioning in the areas where they really play the game in the very near future. There are also some environmental benefits that are consistent with our desire to be demonstrate responsible stewardship.”
