Baton Rouge Senior Open – Tournament Results

Congratulations to Wendell Akins on winning the 2023 Baton Rouge Senior Open today at Beaver Creek golf course. Wendell shot 3-under par on the back nine to post a Sunday 1-under par 71 and a 5-under par 36-hole total of 139. That was good for a two-shot victory.David Knight shot a 2-under par 70 on Sunday to finish tied with Bob McCusker in second place at 1-under par 141. Wes Watts, Danny Simoneaux, and Tate Zyroll tied for 4th place at 1-under par 143. Danny Nelson finished in 7th place, the only player finishing at even par 144.

Four-Ball Challenge 2023 – Tournament Results

Congratulations to Craig Rose and Phil Frazier on winning the 2023 Four-Ball Challenge today at BREC’s Beaver Creek Golf Course. Craig and Phil shot 3-under par on the front nine and 2-under par on the back nine to win by one shot at 5-under par 67. Players had to contend with weather that started off nice, got windy, then the rain came, and it was nice again by the time the last groups finished. One shot back at 4-under par 68 were the teams of Wes Watts & Jamie Lavigne and Gayle Sanchez & John Henchy. They were one shot ahead of a big group of teams that included Pat & Logan Leary, Blake Watts & Chuck Laudermill, Brady & Kyle Bennett, Robbie White & Paul Castro, and Donte Calderra & Kyle Wells.Tim & Austin Edens won the First Flight with an even par round of 72. There finished one stroke ahead of Mike Thomas & Chris Leonard, Keith Collins & Andy Barker, and Andre Prejean & Justin Leblanc. Addison Gee and Jacob Agazzi won the Second Flight winning a tie-breaker with Ken Joslyn & Steve Foster. They were one stroke ahead of the teams of Guy Hymel & Marr Coulas and Kerry D’Antonio & Chris Dake.

Plainsman Four-Ball 2023 – Tournament Results

Congratulations to Wendall Akins and BJ Taillon on their victory in the 2023 Plainsman Four-Ball at BREC’s Beaver Creek golf course. In the Better-Ball format, they followed up a first round 5-under par 67 with a second round 10-under par 62 for a 15-under par total of 129. The 129 total provided a five-stroke margin of victory over the teams of David Knight & Mark Bienvenue and Ken Collins & Nat Jeansonne who tied for second place at 10-under par 134. Paul Viguet & Mario Migliacio came in 4th at 135 one stroke ahead of Tre Simmons & Caz Bernhard who finished at 136.Robert McCusker & Randy Goff won the First Flight posting 71-66 for a 7-under par 137 total. Blake Barber & Corey Theriot came in second at 2-under par 142. Schuyler Cotton & Chuck Laudermill won the Second Flight at 3-under par 141, three shots ahead of the team of Matt Tucker & Stephen Frederick. Patrick & Logan Holmes won the Fourth Flight at 5-over par 149, one stroke ahead of Scottie Southall & Mike Lejeune who improved nine strokes with a second round 1-under par 71.

Webb Championship 2023 – Tournament Results

Congratulations to Jeremy Gautreaux on winning the 2023 Webb Golf Course Championship tournament today. Jeremy followed Saturday’s 6-under par 66 with a 1-under par 71 on Sunday for a one-shot victory at 7-under par 137. Brandt Garon & Schuyler Cotton both shot Sunday 68’s to tie for the low rounds on Sunday and for 2nd place at 138. Scott Haynie finished in 4th at 5-under par 139. Chad Braud and Elliot Aucoin tied for fifth place at 1-under par 143.Wendell Akins posted a Sunday 1-under par 71 to win the First Flight by 5 strokes. Scott Freeland and Chris Kieren tied for 2nd in the First Flight at 150. Tiebreakers were needed in the Second Flight as Frank Schroeder, Randall Little, and David Knight all tied for first place at 156. David Price won the Third flight with a 164 total.

City Park Championship 2023 – Tournament Results

Congratulations to Wendell Akins on winning the 2023 City Park Course Championship.  Wendell posted a 2nd round 65 to back up his first round 63 and win by one stroke with an even par 128 total.  Jeremy Gautreaux held the first round lead and one shot back in second at 129.  Robbie White and Logan Leary tied for 3rd at 132.  Scott Haynie posted a second round one under par 63 to finish fifth at 133.Craig Rose also posted a second round one under par 63 to win the First Flight with a 135 total.  Elliot Aucoin came in 2nd in the First Flight after a second round even par 64.  Thanks to everyone who participated in the City Park Course Championship.

Mardi Gras Mania 2023 – Tournament Results

Congratulations to Jim Swanson & Greg Berthelot on winning the 2023 Mardi Gras Tournament toady at BREC’s Webb Memorial Golf Course. The Sunday format in the 36-hole tournament was Better-Ball on the front nine and modified Alternate Shot on the back nine. Jim & Greg shot an 8 under par 64 that combined with their Saturday 59 resulted in a 123 total and a one-shot victory. Jeremy Gautreaux & Brandt Garon posted the low round of the day with a 10-under par 62 to finish second by one stroke. Scott Haynie & Bob McCusker came in third, two strokes ahead of four teams that tied for fourth at 131.

Chris Leonard & Mike Thomas shot a Sunday 69 to win the First Flight by one stroke over Terry Ledet & David Millet. Brian Barger & Chris Kieren finished with a 4-under par 140 total to win the Second Flight. Dylan & Ronald Nugent finished at 154 to win the Third Flight.

In addition to the normal gift card prizes, Jim Swanson & Greg Berthelot also received gift baskets from Columbia Sportswear. Congratulation again to Jim & Greg and thanks to Columbia Sportswear for supporting the event and to everyone who played in the Mardi Gras Tournament.

Ice Breaker 2023 – Tournament Results

Congratulations to Scott Haynie and Bob McCusker on winning the 2023 IceBreaker Tournament at City Park GC on Saturday.  The day started off cool, as it should for an IceBreaker tournament, but warmed up nicely before it was over.  The tournament format was 9-holes of Scramble followed by 9-holes of Better-Ball.  Scott and Bob shot 3-under par 29 in the Scramble and bettered that with a 4-under par 28 in the harder Better-ball format for a 57 stroke total and a one-shot victory.Danny Simoneaux and Drew Patin came in 2nd, one shot back at 4-under par 58.  Jeremy Gautreaux & Phil Frazier won the tie-breakers to get 3rd place from among the three teams tied at 3-under par 59.  Also, at 59 were the teams of Jeff Russell & Bobby Richmond (4th) and Ken Collins & Blake Watts (5th).  Joey Indest & Terry Ledet came in 1st in the First Flight winning a tie-breaker with Joey Crifasi & Renee Caballero at 3-over par 67.  Daniel Chambliss & Time Medlin came in 3rd with a 68, Wade Simmons & Micah Major got 4th at 69, and Connor Lloyd and Blake Eisler came in 5th at 70.  The flights were split based on the standings after the Scramble portion of the competition.Congratulations to the winners and thanks to everyone who played.  We hope to see many of you at the next event, the Mardi Gras tournament at Webb GC on February 25 & 26.

Women’s Championship 2022 – Tournament Results

Congratulations to Sophia Macias on defending her Women’s Baton Rouge Amateur Championship title today at BREC’s Webb Memorial Golf Course. Sophia continues her impressive play posting a 3-over par 75 to win the Championship Flight (gross scoring).Scoring was tight in the Net Division as Dee Dee Becnel came in 1st with a net 3-under par 69. Ginger Covington captured 2nd with a net 71, April Prestenbach got 3rd at 72, and Thelma Price came in 4th at net 73. In 2023 the Women’s Amateur Championship will move to July. Look for next year’s tournament date when the 2023 BREC tournament schedule comes out soon, we hope to see everyone play again next year.

Holiday Scramble 2022 – Tournament Results

Congratulations to Phil Frazier, Jeremy Gautreaux, and Greg Berthelot for winning the BREC Holiday 3 Player Scramble today at Webb Park GC. They used the three-player scramble format to post an 18-under par score of 54. Remarkably, they only won by one shot as Henry Pointer, Ed Mitchell, and Nyles Williams finished one shot behind them at 17-under par 55. Many groups turned in impressive scores considering they played through consistent off and on rain for much of the round. Finishing at 15-under par 57 were the team of Wendell Akins, Dante Caldera, & Kyle Wells, and the team of Danny Nelson, Phil Schmitt, & Carter Schmitt. The First Flight was won by the team led by Mpho Mmopi who posted 8-under par 64 as did the team of Brian Barger, Chris Kieren, & Dan Chambless. Team Covington, consisting of Landon, Terry, and Ginger, won the three-way tie-breaker at 65 to get 3rd in the First Flight.

Harry Neese 2022 – Tournament Results

Congratulations to Phil Frazier and Jeremy Gautreaux on winning the 27-hole Harry Neese Tournament at City Park on Saturday.  Players braved the first cool Saturday morning of the Fall playing three different formats in this tournament that features 9 holes of Scramble, 9 holes of Better-Ball, and 9 holes of Alternate Shot.  The 27 holes played to a par of 96.  Jeremy and Phil won by posting a score of 10 under par 86.  Robbie White and Landon Covington came in 2nd, three shots back at 89.  Scott Wilfong and Brek Balentine finished third with a six under par 90.
