Congratulations to Jeremy Gautreaux and Cody Maxwell on winning the 2024 Plainsman Tournament at Beaver Creek golf course.Jeremy and Cody managed to shoot 64–65–129 to finish 15 strokes under par in this 36-hole two player better-ball event.   2023 champions Wendell Akins & BJ Taillon held the first-round lead and finished second at 62-68-130.  Jason Humphries & Dustin Lambert cam in third with 67-64-131.  John Henchy & Randy Goff got 4th place at 67-67-134.Josh Tucker & Drew Prieto won the tiebreaker with the lower final round to win the First Flight with 70-65-135 over the team of Mark Bienvenue & Jesse Landry’s 69-66-135.  David Duhon & Cade Hebert won the Second Flight with 73-66-139, Andre & Jack Prejean came in second with 73-70-143.

Congratulations to Greg Berthelot on winning the 2023 Baton Rouge Amateur Championship at Beaver Creek golf course. In the morning semi-final matches Greg Berthelot won his match against Nicholas Cristea three holes up with two holes to play. In the other semi-final Jeremy Gautreaux took 17 holes to move past Jason Humphries two holes up with one hole to play. This set up the final match of Berthelot versus Gautreaux. Greg Berthelot continued his strong play in the final match winning six holes up with five hole to play.

Congratulations to Wendell Akins on winning the 2023 Baton Rouge Senior Open today at Beaver Creek golf course. Wendell shot 3-under par on the back nine to post a Sunday 1-under par 71 and a 5-under par 36-hole total of 139. That was good for a two-shot victory.David Knight shot a 2-under par 70 on Sunday to finish tied with Bob McCusker in second place at 1-under par 141. Wes Watts, Danny Simoneaux, and Tate Zyroll tied for 4th place at 1-under par 143. Danny Nelson finished in 7th place, the only player finishing at even par 144.

In the Better-Ball format, they followed up a first round 5-under par 67 with a second round 10-under par 62 for a 15-under par total of 129. The 129 total provided a five-stroke margin of victory over the teams of David Knight & Mark Bienvenue and Ken Collins & Nat Jeansonne who tied for second place at 10-under par 134. Paul Viguet & Mario Migliacio came in 4th at 135 one stroke ahead of Tre Simmons & Caz Bernhard who finished at 136.Robert McCusker & Randy Goff won the First Flight posting 71-66 for a 7-under par 137 total. Blake Barber & Corey Theriot came in second at 2-under par 142. Schuyler Cotton & Chuck Laudermill won the Second Flight at 3-under par 141, three shots ahead of the team of Matt Tucker & Stephen Frederick. Patrick & Logan Holmes won the Fourth Flight at 5-over par 149, one stroke ahead of Scottie Southall & Mike Lejeune who improved nine strokes with a second round 1-under par 71.

Congratulations to Greg Berthelot on winning the 2022 Baton Rouge Open at Beaver Creek on Sunday. Greg backed up his first round 67 with a final round 4-under par 68 for a total of 9-under par 135. Greg had, or tied, the low round of the day in both rounds. Brayden Seguin shot a consistent 69-69-138 to finish in solo second three shots behind Berthelot. Michael Arnaud also shot a 68 on Sunday to finish in third with a 5-under par 139 total. Wendall Aikens, Kyle Bennett, Scoff Wilfong, Phil Frazier, Carter Schmidt, and Robbie White all posted 36 hole under par scores to finish in the top 10. Greg and Phil backed up their first round 63 with a final round 8-under par 64 for a 17-under par 127 total. First round leaders Eddie & Grant Welch finished in 2nd, three shots back at 130. Robbie White & Jeff Calloway took third at 132.Donny Schmidt & Ron Laborde won a tie-breaker at 8-under par 136 with Scott Haynie & Mark Bienvenu to win the First flight. Justin Hernandez & Ryan Kyle won the Second Flight at 2-under par 142. Christian Brown & Brayden David won the Third flight with a 153 total. Congratulations to Danny Nelson and Scott Wilfong on their victory in the Four-Ball Challenge today at Beaver Creek golf course in Zachary. Danny and Scott didn’t let the wind bother them on their way to the low front nine score with a 4-under 32 and then backed it up with a 2-under par 34 on the back nine for a 6 under par total of 66. They finished one shot ahead of Kyle Wells and Dante Calderra who shot 33-34-67. Drew Silman and Nyles Williams came in 3rd at 4 under par 68. The tie-breakers worked out just right for Brandt and Chad Garon who won the 1st Flight and for Drew Cavell and Taylor Calandro who won the 2nd flight. The next BREC tournament is the two-day, 36-hole, Plainsman Better-Ball at Beaver Creek on May 14th & 15th.
